Frequently Asked Questions
What is HID?
High Intensity Discharge (H.I.D) is a micro discharge bulb filled with Xenon gas instead of filament. It uses a stabilized arc of electricity to generate a whiter and brighter light source than is available from your standard halogen bulbs.
Why switch from halogen to Xenon?
The Xenon bulbs produce 3 times the light output than a standard halogen bulb and are closer to the natural sunlight, giving you greater vision when you drive at night or in bad weather. HID lamp systems also last 3 - 5 times longer than a traditional halogen bulb.
Will these bulbs fit my vehicle?
We carry most bulb applications for all vehicles after 1980. Click here to check your vehicle's bulb type. (Sylvania)
What is color temperature?
Many people believe that the higher the color temperature the brighter the lamp, which is totally wrong. The Kelvin (K) rating simply measures the color output of the light on the Kelvin color temperature scale. It is a reference purely for color. The reality is the higher up the scale the lamps are, the less bright they become. 4300K-6000k has the closest to ordinary daylight and most attractive light output.
Is it hard to install the HID conversion kit?
Actually the installation is considered Do-It-Yourself for those who are not mechanically inclined. It can take anywhere from 10 minutes to half an hour, each vehicle varies on install time. (For those who have no experience working with car, we recommend this installation done by professional)
What does the Xenon HID conversion kit include?
Our HID Kits come standard with all of the components required for installation. This includes: Two MINI Ballasts, Two Xenon HID bulbs, Two 20A fuses (with Bi-xenon or relay harnesses only) and installation instructions. Motorcycle kits receive one of each part listed above, unless purchasing a dual-bulb kit.
Are these Xenon bulbs street legal?
No Xenon HID conversion kit available from any source is DOT approved if installed outside of the factory. As a result, we officially endorse the kit for exhibition and off-road use and will not be held liable for any other uses.
